Also known as Bubble Hockey because of the very distinguished, indestructable dome that covers the playfield, this game is fast, exciting and realistic as the players on either side control all 5 hockey players and the goalie. It can be played one on one or two on two. An electronic scoreboard records goals, shots on goal, period and running time. The running time is operator adjustable. Other features include an automatic puck return system, overhead dome lighting and if the game is tied after the normal game play it will automatically go into sudden death overtime - so there is always a winner! This game can be set to accept coins or freeplay.

Bring the sites and sounds of an amusement favorite right into your home. The play is fast and the scoring is spectacular. The Slapshot features a unique gear box with a 2:1 turn ratio for quick player response and lively play. Turning players 360° requires only a flick of the wrist. And so the team doesn’t get too worn out, we’ve designed a clutch system that “gives” when there is opposing player-to-player force. The ultra-smooth rods are all chrome-plated, hollow-ground steel with 0.120” wall thickness and are coupled with nylon bushings for minimal friction. It’s this sort of attention to detail that makes it a Blue Line… and makes Slapshot Dome Hockey such a big hit.

Bubble Hockey
Super Chexx
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Super Chexx is a table top arcade ice hockey game manufactured by Innovative Concepts in Entertainment (ICE) (http://www.icegame.com/). ICE began manufacturing these table hockey games in 1982 and continues production to this day in Clarence, New York just outside of Buffalo. It is also known as bubble hockey or "Boobla" because of the very distinguished dome that covers the playfield. The gameplay is fast and realistic, as the players on either side control all five hockey players and the goalie. The game can be found in many entertainment centers, arcades, bars, restaurants, pubs, bowling alleys, ice rinks and pool halls, and is has been sold in over 52 different countries worldwide. Vintage versions of the game feature the USA vs. Russia, Canada vs. Russia, or USA vs. Canada formats.
The early versions of the game were made with Blue bases, and most of the games now are made with Red bases. There was a limited edition of 100 (2005) that were made with Black bases. The first Black bases were made for a Bubble Boys Tournament with Wayne Gretzky and Bud Light (1999). A further limited edition with the black base was made in 2007. The Canadian limited edition is marketed and distributed by SML Entertainment in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (http://www.smlentertainment.com/). Although most games spend their life in an arcade, there are many happy owners that proudly house their systems in their basements. Many areas of the US even have local fan sites and local tournaments. Owners are known to customize their games with hand painted players sporting their favorite NHL Teams (and players) and even their rivals.
Players control their five skaters with long rods that move in and out to bring skaters up and down the ice and spin 360 degrees. A knob is used to move the goalie from side to side. Each player also has access to a boo button, allowing them to express their displeasure via crowd sound effects (also tying in with the "Boobla" moniker). Although Super Chexx is commonly played 1 on 1 (singles), many players enjoy 2 on 2 (doubles) play just as much.
Annual Super Chexx Bubble Hockey Tournaments
Many Super Chexx tournaments are held locally throughout the United States and Canada each year. The International Bubble Hockey Federation (IBHF) and the St. Louis Blues (hockey) held a large national Super Chexx tournament in March 2006 with over 40 participants. This has been the largest independently run tournament in Bubble Hockey history. This event was repeated on March 9-10, 2007. While there are no plans for a 2008 tournament, the Blues have suggested that they might be back to host an event in 2009. Informations on other tournaments throughout North America can be found by clicking on the Chexxfan link below.

What are the rules of bubble hockey?
The official IBHF (International Bubble Hockey Federation) rules are:
- Three, 90-second periods in a game. Side of play is determined by coin flip.
- The puck must stay in the net, and be registered by the game unit for a goal to be scored.
- If regulation time ends in a tie, or a team is losing by one goal, then the game will be played until there is one decisive winner.
- Tournament Play: If one team is ahead by two goals at the end of regulation, the game is over.
- If the game malfunctions, the game will be replayed no matter what the score is.
- Roughing the game will result in immediate disqualification. Examples of roughing include lifting, shaking, moving, and kicking the game, striking the dome, etc.
- Players must be respectful and show good sportsmanship while playing. Foul language is discouraged. Spectators are not permitted to touch the game during play, including pushing the Boo button.
- Penalties are called when violations occur involving Play Stalling, Spinning Players, and Shaking Goaltenders.
- Play Stalling: Players are not permitted to stall play by deliberately holding puck for extended periods of time. A player may request a 5-Count (counted as one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, etc.) from the referee if their opponent is stalling play. The player receiving the count must then pass or shoot at the end of the 5-Count. Failure to move the puck on the 5-Count will receive a penalty.
- Spinning Players: Players are permitted to spin players for a maximum of one second per instance. Excessive spinning will result in a penalty.
- Shaking Goaltenders: Players may shake the goaltender back and forth to the point of moving the puck. Goaltender shaking that causes the puck to move on the ice surface will receive a penalty.
- Penalties are enforced in a two-step process. First penalty: player will receive a warning from the referee (yellow card). Second penalty: player will be disqualified by the referee (red card).
Bubble Hockey FAQ
What is bubble hockey?
Similar to foosball, bubble hockey is a simulated game of ice hockey played under a shatter-proof plastic dome. While the game was most popular in the 1980s, bubble hockey tables can still be found in arcades throughout the United States.
How many players can play bubble hockey at a time?
Most bubble hockey tables are designed for two to four players per game. The players on either side use levers to control all five hockey players and the goalie, with the objective of scoring a goal.
What was the first bubble hockey table?
In the 1980s, New York-based Innovative Concepts in Entertainment (ICE) introduced the Chexx, the original dome hockey game, which pitted Cold War adversaries USA and Russia against each other. Following the end of the Cold War, Chexx was replaced by Super Chexx, in which NHL rivals USA and Canada vied for top honors.
What are the popular brands of bubble hockey tables?
In addition to the classic Chexx and Super Chexx, Shelti's Blue Line Thunderdome tables and Carrom's Signature series are the most popular bubble hockey tables on the market.
How much do bubble hockey tables cost?
While original Chexx tables are collectors' items, Super Chexx tables cost anywhere between $2,000 for refurbished models to over $3,000 for new ones. The tables by Carrom, Shelti, and Harvard are usually priced between $500 and $1,500.
